National Measurement and Regulation Office (UK) - NMRO publish important Technical Briefing Note and Gap analysis documents relating to new EU Directives for weighing instruments (MID & NAWI).
The current European Directive 2009/23/EC for non-automatic weighing instruments (NAWI) and European Directive 2004/22/EC for measuring instruments (MID) will be replaced on 20 April 2016 by European Directives 2014/31/EU and 2014/32/EU respectively, as part of the "New legislative framework". The Directives implement the text of EU Decision No 768/2008/EC and make reference to Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 on accreditation and market surveillance.
The current instruments Regulations will be replaced by new Regulations on 20 April 2016. All instruments placed on the market after 20 April 2016 will have to comply with the requirements in the new Directives and Regulations.
NMRO has produced a Technical Briefing Note and two gap analysis documents which provide detailed information to manufacturers on the impacts of these new Directives. Please refer to these for further information.
