The installation of load cells into a hospital bed application requires careful attention if the system is to be safe and accurate. The performance of a load cell depends primarily on its ability to deflect repeatedly under conditions when load is applied or removed. It is a misconception that a load cell can be considered as a solid piece of metal on which hospital beds can be supported. Furthermore, if more than one load cell is used then the deflection and output of each individual cell should be similar on each load point. To satisfy the above requirements, load cells are mainly used in conjunction with special mounting systems rather than being mounted rigidly between application and foundation.
The sensing or spring element of the H8C is the main structural component of the load cell. The element is designed in such a way that it develops a strain, directly proportional to the load applied. The sensing element is made of high strength alloy steel (nickel plated for environmental protection). By bonding strain gages to the precisely machined element, the force applied can be identified in terms of resistance change. The four strain gages are connected into a Wheatstone bridge configuration in order to convert the very small change in resistance into a usable electrical signal. Passive components such as resistors and temperature depending wires are used to compensate and calibrate the bridge output signal. Sensing elements which are subjected to beam load cell types are widely used, in many configurations, for commercial transducers. Shear beams, such as the H8C, offer high strain levels at relatively low forces, which makes them ideal for high accuracy load cells.
The bench and floor scale Combics combines precision and versatility. All platforms are equipped with proven precision strain-gauge technology, and some models have highresolution electromechanical force compensation. The modular design allows for maximum flexibility to install the indicator and platform separately as well as targeted replacement of individual components.
The scale is equipped with three wheels for easy vertical transport. Two large solid rubber wheels (150 mm) and one retractable guide wheel will allow to move and store the scale easily, even on an uneven ground. A 180° degree turn in a narrow aisle is not a problem. Also, the indicator can be collapsed for transport which will protect it.
Low step height and slatted floor
The step height of this scale is only 35 mm. Therefore pigs can easily enter and leave the scale. Every scale is equipped with a slatted antislip floor. This avoids the collection of dirt onto the scale and it is easy to clean.
Stainless steel construction and load cells
The complete scale frame and the load cells are made of stainless steel. It is easy to clean and maintains its shape and structure over years. The material has been proven over decades in the farm environment. The load cells are sealed in a special laser-welding process.
Compact stainless steel indicator with 30 mm display
The stainless steel display unit has been specifically designed for the ETW VA. The 30mm high digits are backlit and clearly readable from every angle. The folding mechanism is very practical in use.
Sorting lights with three color status indicator
The indicator is equipped with a three color status indicator. The target weight can be entered, a “traffic light system” will indicate the weight of the animal: Green for the correct target weight, yellow for too light animals and red for too heavy animals. Colors are easier to compare than numbers and will speed up the weighing process.
Optional data storage
All recorded weights can be stored in the indicator with date and time and can be transferred to an USB-Stick. The data can be archived and evaluated on any Windows PC with help of the included software.
Easy to use
Only one person is required to weigh the pigs due to the lever mechanism used to open the front door. The indicator was developed to weigh animals and does not have any confusing additional functions. The data can be transferred to an USB stick any time.
Pen and spray can holder
The holder is made from highly durable material and has space for two pens and cans. The diagonal arrangement prevents them falling out when transporting the scale vertically.
Lowered frame backward
The particular geometry of the frame ensures that the animals like entering the scale. The lowered front part of the scale and the clear view through the latticed sides keep the animal calm. The rear of the scale is higher and prevents the animals from jumping over. Transport will be easy due to the compact construction and mobility of the scale.

The PCM M1500 is a modular construction weighbridge designed to weigh up to 80 tons, capable of withstanding the highest efforts resulting of carrying out the more demanding weight, with improved resistance to fatigue. The PCM M1500 is built with metallic or mixed (metal and concrete) modules standardized width of 1.5 meters, enabling platforms set up to 18 meters long and 3 meters wide, with two modules arranged side by side, occupying the entire width of the scale, which eliminates the use of directional louvers, thus allowing a perfectly safe circulation of vehicles.
