Cabinplant A/S (Romania) - Frigorifer S.A. is situated on the bank of the river Danube in the city of Tulcea, Romania. It is considered the major cold store in Romania with a capacity of 16,000 tons frozen product. In addition, Frigorifer has installed a complete vegetable line for the processing of peas, green beans, root vegetables and red peppers.
The vegetable processing line has replaced a small and outdated production unit, as Frigorifer wished to utilise an option to make contracts with local vegetable growers.
“The project has been a complete turnkey project”, says Mr. Janea Nicusor, managing director of Frigorifer. Cabinplant has designed the layout of the process, delivered the equipment and attended to the installation and start-up of the system. We have been given some good advice on the different processes and have been very impressed by the high knowledge level of the team of people we have dealt with.”
The vegetable line comprises steps to clean, wash, blanch, freeze, colour sort, weigh and pack peas and green beans, as well as steps to snip and cut beans. Processing of root vegetables further includes steam peeling, dicing and slicing, and the line is also prepared for future handling of spinach and maize. “During installation of the equipment we suddenly had to make some changes in the layout due to unforeseen circumstances,” says Janea Nicusor. “Luckily, Cabinplant were very flexible and were able to accommodate the equipment to match the altered conditions. This was done without losing valuable time, and everything was ready as promised.”
