Balanças Marques (Portugal) - The emblematic Mercado do Bolhão, in Porto, one of the most typical markets in Portugal, reopened after 4 years of work, fully equipped with scales from the Portuguese company Balanças Marques.
One of the most charismatic markets in Portugal reopened and its merchants will rely on Marques scales to sell their products. The new Bolhão project was developed to be specifically equipped with the weighing equipment from Balanças Marques, which designed a special model from its main retail scale BM5, at the request of the architect Nuno Valentim, responsible for the renovation of the Bolhão, in order to fit into the spirit of rehabilitation that sought to preserve the tradition and history of this market.
“It is a pride and an honor for Balanças Marques that its scales have been chosen to equip such a historic market and that says a lot not only to the people of Porto but to all Portuguese people”, reveals the management of Balanças Marques. “On the other hand, it is also a sign of recognition of the quality of our scales and our brand that they are now part of the daily life of a market as important and busy as Bolhão”.
The renovation of the Mercado do Bolhão combined the physical restoration of the building, the updating of the fresh market and the restoration of the relationship between this facility and the city, preserving its historic merchants. It also invested in increasing transparency, accessibility, comfort and functionality.
