Diverseco Case Study: Splitting One Weighbridge Into Two

Diverseco (Australia) - A Queensland Regional Council operating their Waste Facility approached us to relocate their existing 60t weighbridge that we had previously designed, manufactured, and installed from where it was located at the back of their site to a new location at the front of their site.

It wasn’t your run-of-the-mill relocation, though, as our service team was tasked with splitting the weighbridge into two 30t decks enabling the council to get the axle group weights on certain trucks they required, which wasn’t able to be achieved with a singular deck. It’s important that your weighing instruments (in this case an above-ground weighbridge) is suitable for your operations in as many ways as possible. A core expertise of ours exists in delivering flexible and comprehensive bespoke weighing solutions specific to unique customer requirements – virtually no project is out of our scope or interest.

The below set of pictures showcases a majority of the process involved in this relocation project.

We were able to plan and construct the new foundation (using our civils contractor) and relocation of weighbridge along with our client and Bellingham Cranes. Once we had moved the weighbridge decks to the new foundation, our weighbridge technicians were able to add two new loadcells to the weighbridge decks to enable the separation to become the requested two 30t decks. This was achieved by adding four new loadcell mounts slightly inside the old centre joint.

Our client had specified a very strict timeline for the completion of this project (a Monday at 3pm to the coming Friday morning) as they were required to re-open to the public on that Friday morning. With excellent planning from our service team and collaboration with our contractors, we were able to achieve the relocation and weighbridge verification by Thursday afternoon, well within our customers’ requirements.

We’re proudly Australia’s leading weighbridge manufacturers, with a large team of expert weighbridge service technicians across the country here to assist you with your Chain of Responsibility and trade-legal vehicle weighing requirements.
